S. Ponniah
Sinnathamby Ponniah was born in Valveddithurai in the Jaffna peninsula. He entered the Ceylon Law College in 1950 and became an Advocate of the Supreme Court in 1954. He began his legal practice in Colombo and later moved to Jaffna. During his active professional career, he was concerned about social inequality and worked towards improving the living conditions of disadvantaged communities, especially in the deeply conservative Tamil community.
