A graduate from the University of Peradeniya, Nalini Ellawala has lived a colourful life and that is reflected in her short stories that she was inspired to write after conversations with her grandson. She has dedicated her life to social activism and worked in organizations such as Sumithrayo and The Joan De Mel Trust. Now she spends her time with her family and observing the never ending changes of Sri Lank.
