Selvy Thiruchandra is one of the founding members of the Women’s Education and Research Centre in Colombo and has continued to serve as its Executive Director. She has authored numerous books relating to gender, grounding them not merely on culture but on the socioeconomic and political dynamics of the period concerned. Presently, Thiruchandra serves as one of the commissioners of the Right to Information Commission.
